Teacher's Assault by Students: The Road to Healing – What Every Educator Needs to Know

Over the years, teachers' role in educating the nations' future has taken on more responsibilities beyond teaching the subject matter. Besides teaching our children in key areas such as Language, Art, Math, and Science, teachers attend to students' social and emotional needs. In many regards, teachers are seen as essential pillars of our society as they nurture the whole child (physical, intellectual, social, and emotional) for future generations.As a classroom teacher and a school administrator, I have witnessed the positive impact of teachers on their students to become productive citizens. There are countless stories of teachers' impact that each can attest to in our journey. Recently, I was at my regular dental care. After the hygienist was done, a Doctor showed up for the final check. First, I heard "Mr. K." followed by a waving of the badge in front of my face. I told myself, who is this Doctor? I took my glasses off, and it was my Calculus student nine years ago. What a joy, what success?Despite this noble and respected role of teachers in our society, the teaching profession is challenging, and sometimes teachers are victims of students' violence.
